The Nuclear Company Hires Nuclear Security Veteran, Further Builds Security Capabilities and Offering

Lee Doby led construction security for Vogtle Units 3 & 4 at Southern Nuclear.

WASHINGTON, DC — May 18, 2026 — The Nuclear Company, a fleet-scale nuclear deployment company, appointed Edward "Lee" Doby as Director of Nuclear Security. Doby, who led construction security for Vogtle Units 3 & 4 at Southern Nuclear and oversaw the protection, at peak, of 10,500 people on site each day, will play a key role in building the company's security capabilities and offering.

Doby began his career in the United States Marine Corps and was formerly with Southern Nuclear for more than 20 years. He received the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device as well as the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

In his decades of experience securing nuclear power facilities and critical infrastructure sites, Doby has built significant expertise both domestically and internationally in security management, training, and advisory roles. In addition to his work at Southern Nuclear, operator of America’s largest nuclear power plant, Doby has experience with nuclear security internationally. He was a security consultant to Poland’s first commercial nuclear power project and has given presentations for the World Institute of Nuclear Security.

In his new role, Doby will report to Mike Marty, former security lead for Tesla’s Gigafactory Network and The Nuclear Company’s Vice President of Physical Security. Doby will be responsible for developing and strengthening The Nuclear Company's security infrastructure and protocols to support the company's growing portfolio of nuclear projects and partnerships.

"Lee brings valuable expertise that will be instrumental for ensuring our security operations match our fleet-scale deployment model," said Mike Marty, Vice President of Physical Security. "His deep experience and precise expertise in the nuclear energy field will complement our robust security capabilities."

"The nuclear industry is at a pivotal moment, and I'm excited to join The Nuclear Company as they focus on setting a standard of excellence for security at nuclear facilities,” said Lee Doby.

Doby's appointment reflects The Nuclear Company's continued investment in building a world-class team across all operational areas, from engineering and construction to regulatory affairs and security. As the company advances multiple projects, comprehensive security planning and implementation are critical to ensuring safe, compliant, and successful project delivery.
